.IT Domain Names

Introduced in 1987, Italy’s .IT country-code extension is really popular both within the country and in the English-speaking world. The reason is that the domain is a pronoun, which can be used for constructing inventive and interesting domain names – write.it, youcanmake.it and so on. This is a way to have an easy-to-remember domain name, so that it will be easier for your visitors to return to your website or to share it with coworkers and fellows. The domain extension can also be used for a website, which is connected to the information technology sector because IT is an abbreviation, which is used worldwide.

Since .IT domains are not sold directly by IT-NIC, the Registry organization that administrates this top-level extension, such a domain can be ordered through a 3rd-party registration provider, such as ours. You can obtain a dot IT domain for no more than a year at a time, and the domains are transferable, so you can move your existing domain over to us and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been done. The sole restriction is that the person acquiring such a domain should be situated in a member state of the European Union.

Because there are existing 2nd-level Domains that include names of various territories and localities in Italy reserved for local 3rd-level registrations, new names that consist of geographical regions of any kind are not permitted on any level to avoid any future confusion. We do not support such third-level domains, though, given that they can be registered only by locals.
