Introduced in 2001, the Dot NAME top-level domain is the single TLD planned for personal websites only. These domain names can be personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other labels people are known by. At the beginning, solely 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you wanted to reserve john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Existing third-level domain names remained active.

You will have the chance to modify the WHOIS info, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our company if you have its EPP transfer authorization code from the current registrar company and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been completed. There are no specific terms on who can acquire a .NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the objective behind its creation alive, the Registry may check who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration may be challenged.
